Snowy Weekend
So Friday night we waited 25 minutes for the good souls at Fabricca to shuck 12 oysters for us. We can't complain at $1 a pop but it did occur to us that we could probably do it ourselves. Or rather our friend Adrian-Remi's dad- who is way tougher than us-- could manage.
On Saturday we had a family play date with Remi's family so we suggested an oyster party. They were excited. Suckers. We bought 16 Blue Points at Metropolitan fish market - see Dave Herman's genius mind at work here. They bought a shucker knife and super gloves.
That afternoon was the first snowstorm of the year and Adrian worked hard shucking those oysters while we drank beer and ate chips and the older boys played power ranger and Mack ate deviled eggs, dip, pizza and carrots. Then Bev had the brilliant idea to rest the oysters on snow! Instead of crushed ice! She also made a delicious mignonette. Yummmm! We will be back!
